The Indo-German Cooperation on Agricultural Market Development (AMD) Project conducted a technical dialogue meeting on pesticide residue compliance, private standards, and their certification for export and traceability mechanism

The Indo-German Cooperation AMD project conducted three technical dialogue meetings on “pesticide residue compliance for exports”, “certification and standards”, and “Traceability” from 16th to 18th May 2023. The Team Leader Richard Moody of the AMD project gave a brief overview on the identification and piloting of the most appropriate way to ensure compliance with EU pesticide residue import requirements, second to identify agri-food standards and certification commonly demanded by importers and buyers of project commodities in high-value market markets and to identify the most appropriate traceability mechanism to meet the needs of the project FPOs for successful marketing of the project commodities for the export of Cumin, Coriander, Turmeric, Ginger, Mango & Green Chilli. The expert from NIPHM, DMI, CIB&RC, APEDA, Spice Board of India, Global GAP,  Ecocert, The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL), and Rainforest Alliance attended the technical discussions and shared their views. Dr. Ramesh Mittal, Director, CCSNIAM moderated the overall technical discussion. Mr. Pratyush, Deputy Team Leader- Agribusiness Expert of the AMD project explained the current status of MRL issues, Global certification, and the most appropriate traceability mechanism to meet the needs of the project FPOs for successful marketing of the project commodities for the export of Cumin, Coriander, Turmeric, Ginger, Mango & Green Chilli at the grassroots level.
