AMD Project organizes its first Project Steering Committee meeting

The Indo German Cooperation on Agricultural Market Development (AMD), first Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting was held on 19th April 2022 at New Delhi under the co-chairmanship of Dr. Vijaya Lakshmi Nadendla (IAS), Joint Secretary (Policy & Marketing), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, GoI and Ms. Svenja Fuhrmann, Division 624 “International Projects, Twinning”, German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), Germany.

The objective of the PSC meeting was to build on the discussions and outcomes of the Inception Phase of the project that concluded in April 2022. The PSC members approved that AMD project would organize technical dialogues on the topics related to agri-export best practices and challenges related to agri-food export from India to EU markets for spices and horticulture crops. Further, technical discussion would also be organized related to Global G.A.P Standards, certifications, and traceability requirements.

The PSC members also agreed to pilot the AMP project activities in three pilot state -Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. Cumin and Coriander from Rajasthan state, Mangoes and Green Chili from Uttar Pradesh and Turmeric and Ginger from Odisha state have been selected as potential commodities for development of value chains with focus on market access to German / EU markets. The PSC finally approved the inception phase progress and approved the annual action plan of the project.

The PCS meeting was attended by the representatives from Marketing Division of DA&FW, NIAM, DMI, Nodal Officers from the state of Rajasthan, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh along with the representatives from GFA, ADT project consulting, Counsellor for Food and Agriculture, Embassy of Germany and the AMD project team.
