The Indo German AMD project team visited Unjha Market Yard in Gujarat from 12-13 February 2024

The Indo German AMD project team visited  Unjha Market Yard in Gujarat from 12-13 February 2024. Unjha Market Yard holds the distinction of being one of the largest regulated markets in the country and is renowned nationwide as a prominent commercial hub for the trade of Jeera (Cumin), Variali (Fennel Seeds), Isabgul, and Raido (Mustard Seeds). It is worth noting that the cultivation of Jeera, Variali, and Isabgol is exclusive to the regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The purpose of this visit was to explore ways to establish connections between Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and exporters, as well as to gain access to European Union (EU) markets and other countries for the export of spices. Additionally, the AMD team held meetings with Indian exporters to gain a comprehensive understanding of the agricultural commodity export system. The discussions primarily revolved around the export potential of cumin, coriander, turmeric, and ginger.
